The Australian Community Indicators Network (ACIN) aims to assist people using or developing community indicators to share ideas and information, and to foster collaboration.
Community indicators are statistical tools for informing communities and governments about the wellbeing of communities. They provide evidence of how communities are faring. Regular and reliable measures of the progress of communities are crucial for informed democracy and good governance. Community indicators, developed through an open and inclusive process, promote citizen engagement and government accountability. They improve evidence-based planning and policy making and generate new ideas and relationships. In these ways, they contribute to the well-being of our communities and our people.
The Network aims to build a national dialogue and knowledge base across community indicator policy, research and practice.
